Following the vision of the Ateneo de Manila to be a Filipino, Catholic and Jesuit university serving the interest of faith and justice while assiduously striving for academic excellence, the OSCI is privileged to carry out the tasks of:
- Providing the Arts and Sciences students, staff, faculty and alumni with social formation through traditional immersion and exposure for them to continuously experience and witness the real situation of the poor;
- Ensuring the link of the Arts and Sciences community to marginalized sectors through solidarity actions on their issues and advocacy;
- Developing the "heart" and critical social consciousness of students to allow them to be more real and response-able as future leaders in their chosen career, thereby, living a faith that does justice.
- Installing in the academic curriculum, through the initiation and cooperation of, and implementation by, faculty and students, subjects that have effectively integrated theoretical studies with an appropriate practicum curriculum, thereby exposing the praxis that social transformation entails to the necessary rigor of academic discipline.
