Profile

The Office for Social Concern and Involvement is the main conscientization arm of the School of Arts and Sciences. Through its alternative education programs, OSCI helps in the formation of young men and women to become Persons-for-others, promoting social justice through solidarity with the poor. Its programs help students realize that talents and gifts are to be developed not just for self-actualization, but with God?s grace, for the betterment of human society.

Programs:

Theo 141 Immersion Program

It is a 2 day activity required of all graduating seniors where the students get first-hand experiential knowledge of poverty. Examples of programs relevant to the course are: cooperatives, livelihood and credit, agricultural and rural development, environment and health.

Volunteer Formation Program

The OSCI, in its task of formulating alternative educational programs recognizes the potential of students in contributing towards effective social transformation. It features top caliber speakers from different sectors of society and a variety of activities to choose from such as: talks and symposia, cultural presentations and field trips among others.
